The 1968 ‘Howerd’s Hour’ special, guest-starring Patrick Wymark, is now available on DVD from Network Distributing in one of the new ABC Nights In releases. Written by Eric Sykes, the special has Frankie Howerd looking back to his grandfather’s tour of the Klondyke appearing at a bar run by Hattie Jacques! Patrick Wymark plays Patchy, a miner who takes exception to Howerd’s performance. The variety special also features performances by Sandie Shaw and Scott Walker (singing his BBC-banned version of Jacques Brel’s ‘Jackie’). Costing £12.99, the DVD also features an episode of ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ starring Elizabeth Wallace (Corbett’s secretary in The Plane Makers) as the White Witch.
